Panama Hat Care Guidelines

Follow the instructions below to ensure the longevity of your Panama hat

Wearing

Handle the hat by its brim and not its crown and avoid crushing the hat.

Storing

  • Do not get your hat wet. Should it get wet, let it dry in an airy space and reshape it once dried.
  • When not in use, store your hat inside the hatbox in a dry, ventilated and cool place.
  • Do not leave your hat in an overheated car, as the straw may become brittle and crack. The hat needs a good balance of humidity and dryness.

Cleaning

In case your hat gets dirty, remove the stains with a lightly damp cloth without rubbing too hard. Never use soap and water.

Reshaping

If your hat loses its shape, you should be able to recover the original shape by lightly steaming it over a boiling kettle and then shaping it by hand back to its original form. A blow dryer can be used on a low heat setting to dry the hat while you are holding it. Iron the brim by putting a cotton cloth between the brim and the iron.

Rolling

Some designs can be rolled, such as the Vizor, Romy and Colonial. When unrolled and worn again, they will readjust quickly to your head shape. The other designs when rolled will lose their original shape, therefor we do not recommend rolling them.

Travelling

For short trips, leave the hat on top of your head. For longer trips, use the hat box or place the hat in a hard-shell suitcase upside down surrounded by soft clothing only, strictly no denim.
